TESSUTI, known as the number one sartorial destination for the best in designer menswear, appointed TYC following a successful store design a number of years earlier to design the next step in the retail experience for the brand.
The previous Liberty department store, in the style orientated city of Chester was earmarked as the flagship for the new design. Chester is a sought-out retail destination for style and trend-conscious consumers – attracting footfall from all over the North West and beyond. Known as an affluent and sophisticated destination, a breeding ground for establishing and supporting high-quality boutiques and chains.
The challenge was to design a concept store that would reposition the brand, making it edgier. During the redesign a key challenge for the design team was creating a premium space that was also extremely flexible to account for changing products, brands, trends and brand collaboration launch parties.
The interior design team worked tirelessly with the pre-defined requirements of the grade-II listed building in order to achieve the best possible retail design. Set across four floors, the store was designed to combine luxurious fixtures and fittings, paying tribute to the beautiful and iconic features of the original building. The new concept also retained many art-deco features and lighting with furniture throughout the store being designed with elegance and opulence in mind, creating a premium menswear store experience like no other.
To further enrich and enhance the instore experience, TESSUTI Chester incorporates a dedicated area for the independent barbers, Northern Barber Company. Customers can sit back with a coffee and enjoy a classic service from master craftsmen, incorporating the latest in grooming trends and techniques.
A 33 year old brand that launched a luxury retail experience in a beautiful heritage building, with a warm, edgy, streetwise appeal.
The first store featuring the new retail design opened in Chester during Q2 2018 and will be rolled out across the estate during 2018/19 providing the North of England a carefully selected range of luxury menswear and streetwear from a range of high end contemporary designer brands.
Project scope: Research, Interior design, Concept design, Technical design, Rollout.
