TYC was approached by Mobilebitz following the success of the Models Own Bottleshop at the 2013 BCSC Opal Awards. The challenge from Mobilebitz was to design a remarkable kiosk concept that would position Mobilebitz as the clear leader in the sector. The strategy for choosing a design partner for Mobilebitz also took in to consideration landlord relationships and connections in order to help secure prime positions in high-end shopping centres for the end product.
With the goal in mind of 'stand out' and 'maximum impact', TYC set about generating some radical concept ideas that challenged the very generic, expected and (quite frankly) boring approach to mobile phone accessory retail.
The team enjoyed pushing and breaking these boundaries with the concept 'sketchbook' stage of work and used their understanding of business operations to help select the strongest route for development. The concept was developed further to test single sided, high and low sight lines as well as modular units. These design developments were then taken to the technical drawings and sent out to tender on behalf of the client.
The Mobilebitz kiosk has a beautiful, organic form unlike any other on the high street. It's flexibility and adaptability allow for quick and easy alterations depending on the individual site and landlord requirements. TYC is also very proud of the WOW-factor and impact that the kiosk has on passing customers.
As a result of the new kiosk design Mobilebitz has secured a number of new locations in desirable mall destinations. The first kiosk with the new design opened in Brent Cross Shopping Centre in Q1 2014 and has gone from strength to strength ever since with another seven units opened in 2014 / 2015.
Project scope: Interior design, Implementation and Roll out.
