The brief:

The brief from Land Securities was to design a pop-up shop for the new development One New Change. The new space must allow new tenants to be able to take a space in One New Change for a short period of time with lower upfront expenditure and shorter lead times.

The approach:

We designed a flexible, re-usable, adaptive space that would suit any type of retailer and reflect the high-speed, ever-changing environment that we live in. A shell was created that allowed tenants to re-create their brand with as little fuss as possible.

The design included a flexible wall system from Visplay, an adaptive LED lighting system and an exposed ceiling for brands who want an urban feel with a Barrisol frame to allow brands who want a more sophisticated look to create a solid ceiling with very little fuss. The design also included M&E, flooring, signage and cash desk.

The Yard Creative created the concept submission which included concept design, materials and technical drawings.

The outcome:

The unit had serious interest from a number of parties who are looking to be trading at the launch of the new development. Foyles opened a pop-up store in the prime retail space in October 2010.
