The brief:

A part of its major rebrand strategy, Clintons aims to put customer experience at the heart of its repositioning on the high street, whilst also keeping pace with customer demand for convenience and technology. The brief was to improve customer experience, improve efficiency and increase revenue - making the store of the future the first destination that comes to mind for all customers looking to give a card to someone special.

The approach:

Appointed by Clintons to design the retail store of the future in August 2010 the team set about immersing themselves in consumer and operational research, trend analysis and best practice retail. This allowed the team to consider all bases before putting pen to paper to ensure we created something that was right for the brand, the customer and the staff. We have worked in partnership with other external agencies and the board of Clintons to deliver a unique instore experience.

The outcome:

The new design embraces the emotion that customers share with the brand and rewards them with a fantastic new store that it easier to shop and interactive through the use of new technologies.

The design is to be trialed in stores across the UK (Nottingham, St Albans, Uxbridge and Bristol). These stores have been specifically selected based on surrounding demographics, sales performance and geographic location to give the retailer a good cross section to help understand how the stores performs and to help underpin its future growth. Following a review of these trial stores the new retail interiors will be rolled out to the 652 store estate.
