Changing customers attitudes to fast food

  • Client: Burger King
  • Disciplines: Interior design and roll-out

The brief:

To design a new retail concept that looks to convey the high quality of the BK offering and dispel the fast food myth.

The approach:

By investigating trends in customer attitudes towards burgers and fast food we were able to create a design that reflected a new found confidence in burgers following the introduction of recent burger bars across London. By using their open and honest approach to their food and ingredients the aim was to reflect the more approachable side to Burger King.

The outcome:

The new retail concept uses dark timbers, earthy colours and rich materials amidst contemporary fittings to create a feeling of warmth and quality. The use of plasma screens help to attract customers whilst they wait on the main concourse and allow the brand to communicate time-of-day offers. Communications also received a makeover with the brands core values coming to life in the honest and friendly tone.

The first site to go live with the new Burger King concept designed by The Yard Creative opened May 2008 in London’s Euston Station.
